Human Rights Council extends mandates on Syria, Iran and freedom of religion or belief

The Human Rights Council this morning adopted six resolutions. The Council decided to extend the mandates of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran as well as the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief. Other texts dealt with torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment and the rehabilitation of torture victims; prevention of genocide; and follow-up to the report of the United Nations Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict.
